Have you ever made resolutions or goals only to feel that you let yourself down because you didn't accomplish them? Me too! You are not alone. As a matter of fact, studies show that 91% of us won't achieve our New Year's resolutions.

The bright side is this: now I have found a proven system that works. Here's 3 tips to writing new year's goals and keeping them.

#1 Be specific.

There's a common saying that goes like this: "In order to be terrific, you have to be specific." I used to tend to write very general goals. As an example, I would write "be more fit". This wouldn't get me very far and leave me feeling pretty bummed at the end of the year when I didn't hit my goal. If I made it a bit more specific I might say, "be at XXX lbs. by June". This helps me really define what I am aiming for because it's not only specific, but it's measurable too. Go through your goals and see how you can hone in on the specifics. You'll be on your way to crushing your goals!

#2 Know your why.

"Why" may sometimes seem pointless to write. That's why most don't take the time to write it.

Why is it important to know our why? Why's are the energy and power behind our desires. They give fuel and fire to our goals. They help us create leverage and motivation when we just don't feel like going to the gym, eating healthier, maybe getting our finances at a better spot or any other goal.

Take the time to write your "why" and you'll do what most never do. You can thank me later. ;)

#3 How can we get there?

So, we have our specific goal. We have our why. Now to the "how". Just like Google Maps, if we don't input where we are and where we want to go, we would get super lost (or at least I would) and might not ever reach our destination. How do we get from point A to B? How do we get from 155lbs to 150lbs by June? If we are starting in January, we might figure out that it's just less than 1 lb. per month. How are we going to reach that goal? Maybe it's getting a trainer for 3 days a week, working out 4 times a week for 30 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes weights, or even meal prepping with foods that fuel our body.

Whatever it may be for you, writing down the how is just as important as the why. It's the Google Maps to your goal.

I am cheering you on this year and every year in your journey of becoming the best version of YOU!!
