I was working out one morning in the gym with my husband when we began speaking to a man who was on the bench press. We introduced ourselves and he told us his name is Ken. Ken was about 5'5" wearing a tank top and shorts and was pretty fit. He went on to share with us that he was 80 years old (he definitely didn't look 80!) and told us how much he loves to workout. He then shared with us that he was working out to compete in the Senior Games coming up.

We wondered how he got started working out and...like the curious people that we are, we asked.

Ken began telling us that when he was in his teens - he was running one day. A man, stopped him and told him what a great physique he had and what a perfect body he had for bench pressing because of his compact physique including short arms (yes, that was a compliment!). At that point, he hadn't even considered weight training.

That statement from the complete stranger made an impact on Ken's life.

As a result, Ken began to believe that maybe he had the perfect physique for bench pressing. He began to bench press consistently and still does today into his 80s.

Incredible.

The power of belief is...truly powerful.

Beliefs can be empowering or disempowering. What beliefs do you have or have you carried with you?

Are there any beliefs that are disempowering that you could choose to believe something more empowering?

The choice is truly ours. Henry Ford once said, "Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right."

There's true power in our beliefs. When we become aware of our beliefs and can tweak them to do good for ourselves and others, that's when we change the world.

I'd love the opportunity to connect and, perhaps, work on examining some of your beliefs here.

You are worth it.
